Parma, 2 August 2011 – The Parma Ham Festival, to be held for its 14th year, will be launched in Rimini on the occasion of the Meeting for Friendship among Peoples 2011 that will be held in the fair district from 21 – 27 August.
Aperifestival is the formula chosen for presenting a preview of the famous festivities for the King of Hams planned for 24 August starting at 17:30. The guests of the evening will be welcomed in an elegant and refined environment, by the swimming pool, where it will be possible to taste local products such as Parma Ham accompanied by D.O.C. wines of the Province of Parma.
The aperitif is organized in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Region that is present at the Meeting with a full calendar of events and appointments that aim at promoting the region and all its local traditional products.
The Meeting for Friendship among Peoples is an international event where people of different faiths and cultures meet, each person with unique experiences and testimonies. But there is more: shows, exhibitions, conferences and sports events will animate the streets of the city where great political personalities, economy managers, representatives of religions and cultures, intellectuals and artists, sportsmen and women and protagonists of the world scene are also expected this year.
The Festival will thus be able to benefit from a vast visibility with a public coming from all over the world, drawn to Rimini in the last week of August when the city becomes the capital of international culture for this event that has been taking place for over thirty years.
The 2011 Parma Ham Festival will be held from 9 to 18 September and will involve 13 municipalities of the local area of production with a full calendar of events centred around gastronomy, shows and culture. Finestre Aperte (“Open Doors”) will be the leitmotiv of the festival: the ham factories will open their doors to the public and give visitors the chance to watch the production process and take part in guided tastings.
An international showcase for a high quality Italian product whose allied industries involve 160 producing companies, 5,000 pig farms and 3,000 employees for a total turnover of 1.7 billion euros.
